Anambra state government has officially opened Liaison office at
Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
The office, situated at no 25 Nsugbe Street Abakaliki is specifically
designated to service Ndi Anambra living in Ebonyi, Cross River, Benue
and some parts of Enugu States.
The event drew Ndi Anambra living in Ebonyi state, some Ebonyi state
Commissioners, some Anambra state government functionaries and ASATU
Abakaliki branch among others.
Inaugurating the office, Governor Willie Obiano restated that the
welfare and security of Ndi Anambra all over the world is paramount.
Governor Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State Government,
Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said the office will no doubt further
cement the already existing peace between the two states.
He said the office will keep the people informed of the activities,
programmes and projects of Anambra state government at all times for
them to key in when necessary.
In his speech, the Governor of Ebonyi state, Engineer David Umahi
described Ndi Anambra resident in Ebonyi state as law abiding citizens
hence the reason many of them are appointed as Commissioners, Special
Advisers and Assistants and more by Ebonyi state government.
Engineer Umaghi represented by the Secretary to Ebonyi state
government, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, described the Liaison office as a welcome development assuring of continued coexistence and more robust
partnership.
The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr.
Charles Akpu-Enika, who hails from Awkuzu in Anambra state, while
describing the office as the first of its kind in Ebonyi state said it
will open more frontiers for both states.
In his speech, the chairman Anambra state Association of Town Unions,
ASATU, Ebonyi state Chapter, Mr. Uche Mpiatu while naming the office
as a solution arena for Ndi Anambra in Ebonyi and beyond, said it has
given them a sense of belonging.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to the
Governor, and Liaison officer, Anambra state Liaison office Abakaliki,
Mrs. Blessing Udogu assured that the office is ready and properly
equipped to serve them.
