Umunachi Community has defeated Aguluezechukwu in the semi final of the ongoing 2019 Anambra Community Cup Football tournament.

The match ended with three goals to nothing by Umunachi against Aguluezechukwu.

The match took place at the Otuocha Township Stadium, Anambra East Loca government Area.

Chairman Sports Development Commission, Tony Oli said that the drive behind the competition is to engage Anambra youths in meaningful activities instead of social vices, adding that Governor Obiano had always demonstrated strong commitment in building the youths through sports.

While commending Governor Obiano for investing in sports development, he added that 188 communities in Anambra State participated in the tournament, and that the Final between Umunnachi and Achina will come up on the 28 of December, 2019, at the field of St Mary’s High School, Ifitedunu.

While pointing out that the team had recieved various motivations, one of the sponsors of Umunnachi team, who doubles as the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Council, Engr Emeka Okonkwo described the tournament as the best way to building the Youths, commended Governor Obiano for the initiative and expressed confidence that the Umunachi team will defeat Achina in the upcoming final.

Meanwhile, the second match for the Semi Finals was simultaneously played at Abagana, where Achina team defeated Nanka with one goal, to meet Umunnachi team.

Emmanuel Okafor, a player for Umunachi scored scored two goals while Alaka Onyeka scored one.
