Mothers and caregivers in Awka South, Idemili South and Ogbaru Council Areas have been urged to take their children to immunization posts for vaccination as Anambra in collaboration with partner agencies commences the state immunization plus.
In a press release signed by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu, it was revealed that beginning from Saturday seventh December till Tuesday, tenth December 2019, health workers will be at the designated health facilities across the named local government areas to immunize children from zero –fifty- nine months of age.
The release stressed that the health workers will not only be at the permanent and temporal posts at the public health facilities and other designated points, but will also visit households, churches, mosque, motor parks, schools, markets and village squares among others.
It said the this is an attempt by the state government to reach and protect every child in the state and therefore called for support of everyone by allowing the health workers the required atmosphere to help in the actualization of the state governments dream with regards to children’s health.
The eligible children will receive Oral Polio Vaccine, OPV, irrespective of their immunization status, while other routine antigens will be administered according to their previous immunization status.
