Governor Willie Obiano has called on traffic control agencies to partner Anambra State Government this yuletide to ensure free human and vehicular movement.
The Governor made the call during the 2019 seminar organized by the Anambra Traffic Management Agency, ATMA in Awka.
Governor Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Christian Madubuko, charged drivers to be extremely careful while plying the highway, especially this yuletide to avoid jeopardizing their lives and property.
He added that Drivers need to drive right and safe, and called on relevant agencies involved in traffic management to help the State government to ensure free flow of traffic.
The Governor warned officers against collecting bribe from Motorists.
Presenting an address, the Managing Director of Anambra Traffic Management Agency, Mr Pat Obiefuna stated that Anambra has witnessed series of road traffic crashes which are mostly caused by tanker drivers and some reckless commercial drivers.
He regretted that many drivers are fond of beating the traffic light, as they drive past, even when the traffic light has stopped them, forgetting that other drivers have right of way.
Mr Obiefuna stressed the agency’s readiness to partner the relevant stakeholders in the transport sector to curb the ugly and recurring accidents caused by drivers.
