Anambra Health Insurance Scheme Agency, ASHIA, has organized annual Enrollee and Provider forum aimed at enlightening the participants on the operations of ASHIA.


The event which took place at Jerome Udoji secretariat, Awka, attracted participants from within and outside Awka.


The ASHIA Enrollee and Provider forum provided an opportunity for the participants to ask questions on grey areas as well as to know more about the benefits of registering with the health agency.


Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, said the essence of the forum is for people know the benefits and packages of ASHIA thereby ensuring that they get quality services for the money they pay .


He added that it is also to ensure that NdI Anambra get to the point where no one shortchanges them and also for the hospitals to know the benefits and rights of the enrollees.


In his remarks, Anambra State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, described the birthing of ASHIA by Governor Willie Obiano’s administration as a new dawn in the state Health sector assuring that the agency has come to stay.


Expressing satisfaction with the number of people that attended the forum, Dr. Okpala enjoined Ndi Anambra to be careful with their health by going for periodic check of their basic health care like their blood pressure and blood sugar levels to enable them live longer and healthier life.


He also charged the enrollees to spread the good news of ASHIA to other people.
During the interactive session, one of the participants, Dr. Kammelu Ezedani, noted that ignorance on the part of the enrollees and provider about the operations of the health agency had been a challenge but commended the forum for throwing more light on the operations of the agency.


The forum attracted health care providers, enrollees, political appointees as well as the chairman Governing council of ASHIA, Professor Ilochi Okafor.
