The Anambra State Library Board has held its 2019 Spelling Bee Competition Grand Finale.
The event which took place at Professor Kenneth Dike E-Library Awka, attracted both Primary and Secondary Schools, students, teachers, instructors and parents among others.
Speaking at the event, the Director, Anambra State Library Board, Dr Nkechi Udeze, noted that the competition, meant for Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in the State, was aimed at helping the students and pupils to learn more, sharpen and develop their brains and enhance their knowledge of English language.
Dr. Udeze unveiled that first, second and third positions in both Senior and Junior Secondary categories will go home with Laptops, Tablets and School bags respectively, while their contemporaries in the Primary category, will equally smile home with School bags, books and other educational materials.
She appealed to parents and Caregivers to always allow their Children and Wards to visit the Library to cultivate reading culture.
At the end of the competition, Divine Godwin came top in the Senior Secondary Schools category, while Chinecherem Udigwe and Promise Okoko came second and third respectively.
In the Junior Secondary Schools category, Victory Dom-Okeke came top, followed by Influence Ukaegbu and Chiamaka Okpalachukwu, who took second and third positions respectively, while Emmanualla Chinwuba emerged the overall winner of the Primary Schools category.
Miss Victory Dom-Okeke, from Girls Secondary School Awka, who clinched the first position in the Junior Secondary Schools category, told the ABS that she was happy that she won the competition, and praised her parents for giving her the opportunity to take part in the exercise, promising to keep making them proud.
Handing over of the gifts won by different students added glamour to the competition.
