The Saint Joseph’s Pro Catholic Cathedral Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area yesterday played host to people from all walks of life as the converged to felicitate with the member representing Anambra East And West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly ,Chief Chinedu Obidigwe who went to church to thank God for his blessings upon him and his family.
The thanksgiving mass brought to an end activities marking Chief Obidigwe’s first constituency briefing, enlarged stakeholders meeting and empowerment .
ABS correspondents Amaka Okoye and Ngozi Obileri attended the event and reports that present at the event were Governor, Willie Obiano, speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, members of the National and State Assemblies , APGA faithful, priests from various denominations, Reverend Sisters, traditional rulers including the traditional ruler of Aguleri , Eze Michael Idigo and Enugwu Aguleri monarch, Eze Chukwuemka Eri as well as the traditional ruler of Umueje, in Ayamelu council area Igwe Elias Nneli, friends and well wishers.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Willie Obiano stressed the importance of appreciation in the life of every one, as he said that gratitude leads to beatitudes while quantum of beatitude one has determines his or her altitude in life.
He extolled Chief Obidigwe for his quality representation at the National Assembly for his constituency.
Governor Obiano cautioned youths to desist from drug abuse, cultism and any other acts that can mar their future addng that his administration places high premium on youth’s welfare.
He also said that the Operation Kpochapu 2 is ever ready to deal with any criminal hiding anywhere in the state, even as he urged the youths to give security agencies useful information on hide outs of criminals to make their jobs easier.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend Dennis Isizor said it is a great joy when one remembers what the lord has done and shows gratitude stating that the church helps those in leadership positions to seek God’s face, look into their performance and ensure they relate well with the electorate as well as ensure they work as expected.
Speaking shortly after the mass, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila represented by Member Representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, lady Linda Ikpeazu commended Ndi Anambra East And West for their support to Chief Obidigwe during the National Assembly election stating that he is an active member of the House and has contributed much both at the House and in his constituency despite the fact that this is his first time at the National Assembly.
In his speech, the celebrant, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe said that his representation is for all as he will do everything within his reach to ensure that he attracts democracy dividends to his constituents having sponsored many motion’s that will favour all and called for their total support.
The Member Representing Idemmili North at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Ifeanyi Chiekwu rated Chief Obidigwe high in terms of quality representation, kind heartedness and accommodating spirit praying God to strengthen him the more.
In their separate speeches, the Commissioner for Transport Dr Christian Mmadubuko and his Women Affairs Counterpart, Lady Ndidi Mezue, maintained that it is important to send someone that can represent well, speak for the people and carry everyone along, advising him not to relent in his efforts.
Special thanksgiving and prayers sessions also featured at the pontifical high mass.
