Anambra State government has presented not less than forty utility vehicles to the State fire service and the State vigilante group.
Governor Willie Obiano made the presentation at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Government house correspondent, Ejike Abana has reports that while making the presentations, Governor Obiano said that the State government has done a lot to provide fire fighting facilities to the Service since the Ochanja market fire, stressing that the gesture will complement the efforts of other security agencies in the State for efficient security delivery to Ndi Anambra.
The Governor, who expressed optimism that the presentation will go a long way to prevent the experiences of the past, said that with the vehicles, they will be active in the field, including providing timely and useful information to the police by the vigilante group.
The State Fire Chief, Engineer Martin Agbili while appreciating the Governor for the gesture, said that it will go a long way to motivate the fire officers and promised to live up to expectations.
While stressing that the State Vigilante Service is at the grassroot and community based, the Chairman of the State Vigilante Group, Mr Okechukwu Aduba reassured of increased synergy with the police in creating a more secured atmosphere which is the present
administration’s top priority.
Speaking to the ABS, a Board of Trustees member of APGA, Chief Romey Eze-Onwuka called on them to make maximum use of the vehicles and maintained that Governor Obiano, having done his part, now expects communities to complement his efforts.
