Ihiala local government area has taken its turn of the sensitization visit embarked upon by the state Community and Social Development Agency across the twelve participating council areas of the state.


The project, which is World Bank -assisted, has alreaody executed over fourteen thousand micro projects across the country.


The event took place at the council’s headquarters at Ihiala with the traditional rulers, Presidents General, Woman and Youth leaders, the Local Government Review Committee members and other opinion leaders among others in attendance.


Speaking at the event,, i the General Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu warned that they will have to withdraw from any community, the elite or group of persons hijacked the choice and citation of the micro project.


Mr. Mojekwu advised them to be conscious of protecting the environment while executing their project as the environment they abuse today will take revenge on the future generations.


The Transition Committee chairman of Ihiala local government, Mr. Greg Okafor called on the ten communities in the council area to give direct focus to the programmes guidelines and the expectations of the World Bank to achieve so much in a shortest possible time.


The traditional ruler of Lilu Ancient Kingdom, Igwe Dr. Godson Onyediri, who described the sensitization as very educative and exciting said the project will go a long way in nipping to the bud many infrastructural challenges facing the community and Ihiala local government area in general. ;


In their separate submissions, the traditional ruler of Ihiala, Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu said he will not be a dictator for his subjects in choice of project but will carry them along to know their heart desires while the Vice President General of Uli Progressive Union, Sir Mathew Ohaezuke, urges the Agency to assist his community in the areas of roads, electricity, skills acquisition centers and recreational facilities among others.


Earlier while delivering her paper titled “Over View of World Bank Community and Social Development Project”, the Operations Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, World Bank-assist, Mrs Uche Nwizugbo, re-echoed that the project is purely for the poorest of the poor in poor communities.
