Anambra State government has started distribution of farm inputs to farmers for Dry season farming. The exercise started with Anambra West and Ogbaru local government areas respectively, with distribution of improved cassava stems .
Governor Willie Obiano had, on fourth of December 2019 while flagging off “World Food Day” and “Dry Season Farming” in the state, promised to give farmers in the state all needed support to increase food production.
Some of the farmers, including Mr. Ejike Ekwenze, Honourable Austin Ezeogu, Chief Mrs.Theresa Anijah-Obi and Mrs. Uzozie Ogbonnia, while thanking Governor Obiano for his administration’s numerous supports in achieving food sufficiency in the state, said with the timely distribution of the cassava stems, farming activities will be aggressively pursued to cushion the effects of recent flooding that destroyed farm lands.
Directors of Agro input and Agric Extention in the Ministry of Agriculture, Lady Rosaria Ohaeri and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka, who supervised the distribution exercise, explained that early distribution and planting of the cassava stems are keys to achieving bumper harvest.
