Anambra youths have been charged to imbibe the Entrepreneurship spirit for which the State is known.


Governor Willie Obiano made the call when he declared open the “Access More with Stanel Master Class” at the Stanel World, Agu Awka.


Government House correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the event with the theme; “Become More“, is an entrepreneurial program organized in collaboration with the State government, Stanel Group and Access Bank Plc.


In attendance were former Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Professor Pat Utomi, Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and Tourism, Barrister Sally Mbanefo, Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo, among others.


Governor Obiano said that the creative economy with Information technology is where the world is headed, adding that against the erroneous conception, the youths are today’s leaders which is why his administration has given them a pride of place in the scheme of things.


While stressing that the State is revising the school curricular to give opportunity to youths to write Microsoft exam at secondary school level, Governor Obiano said that Anambra has the best set of youths and called on them to stay out of drugs and other social vices which is capable of truncating their future.


In his speech, traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe who is Chairman on the occasion called on policy makers in the Nigerian system to help the youth realize their potential, as the Country has a youthful population who can make or mar the Country if their energy is not channeled properly.


While commending the initiative, citing Stanel as a good example to be emulated, the keynote Speaker, Engineer Emeka Okwuosa who is an oil and gas entrepreneur from Oraifite, called for conscious efforts to invest in the young people.


Earlier, Chairman of Stanel Group, Mr Stanley Uzochukwu who described the meeting as strategic, said that building entrepreneurial spirit in young people drives change with innovation which is the essence of his programs, which he said is in line with Governor’s mandate to develop young people.
