Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang has cautioned Officers and Men of the Nigeria Police Force in the state against acts capable of truncating free flow of traffic on the state’s roads this yuletide.


CP Abang was speaking during an unscheduled visit to some checkpoints in Onitsha and its environs to monitor the activities of men of the Force in the areas.



The Checkpoints visited by CP Abang in company of some top policemen were Bridge Head, Owerri-Road, and Upper-Iweka axis.


The visit was in line with the determination of the Anambra State Police Command towards ensuring free flow of traffic across the state roads this Christmas season.


The visit according to the Police Commissioner, occasioned by complaints from Ndi Anambra that Police men on checkpoints are causing unnecessary gridlock on the state’s roads.


CP Abang who commended security agents on the various checkpoints visited in Onitsha for sticking to their official duties, urged men of the Police Force to always avoid acts that can cause unnecessary gridlock on the state’s roads this yuletide, as the command will not take it easy with anyone found in such act.


He assured Ndi Anambra of adequate security of life and property during and after the Christmas peri


The Police Commissioner further assured that the state police command will do all within its powers to ensure free vehicular movement throughout the season.


CP Abang later passed through Abagan- Enugwu-Ukwu axis of the Onitsha old road, where he frowned at some officers of the command causing preventable traffick slowdown in the area with their unofficial activities.
