The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Tony Ezenwaka has said that with the success of the 2019 Anambra street carnival, achieving the state government objectives, “Anambra without oil” is a possibility.
At the weekend media parley, after a procession of cultural troops from about ten states and higher institutions across the nation, Mr. Ezenwaka noted that with the interest and unflinching support of Governor Willie Obiano, the ministry is on course in achieving results for the state government.
While traffic jam lasted as a result of the procession, residents, traders and commuters along the Amawbia-Eke Awka-Amaenyi-Ekwueme square road used the opportunity to increase sales and feel entertained with various cultures.
Mr. Ezenwaka pointed out that yearly, Anambra state government packages series of programs, including street carnival, to put people in festive mood, adding that through cultural department of the ministry, Anambra state government is establishing links with foreign countries in order to promote various cultures of Ndi-Anambra.
Contributing, the Acting Director of Arts and Culture in the Ministry, Mr. Okechukwu Ofili, said the Ministry, through the program, “Nkwanite Asusu n’Omenana Igbo“, promotes Igbo cultures to save them from going into extinct.
Musical performances, masquerades display among others, entertain the crowd that gathered at the Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, venue of the grand finale of the 2019 Anambra cultural carnival, organized in collaboration with Stanel groups.
