The Rotary Club of Awka GRA has presented a vocational service award to Anambra Broadcasting Service for its quality service delivery.


The station bagged the award, during the Family of Rotary day and award ceremonies in Awka.


Others who received awards during the event were the Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, who bagged Community Service Award of Excellence, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra West Local Government Area, Chief Sylvester Okafor, and his Oyi counterpart Mr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu.


Presenting the award, the President of Rotary Club of Awka GRA, Chief Fidel Okafor, said the recognition is to appreciate those who contributed significantly to the club and touched lives of the vulnerable in the society.


He said that every year Rotary dedicates one particular day to the family, celebrate and distribute gifts and items stressing that the award was to motivate the beneficiaries to work harder and do more better.


Chief Okafor, equally commended ABS for quality services and accuracy in information gathering and dissemination, noting that ABS has impacted lives with the quality of their programmes which are entertaining, educative and informative.


Expressing gratitude to Rotary, the beneficiaries, Chief Okafor, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Mr. Onyema Ogugua and Mr Nwadiogbu, represented by the Caretaker Chairman of Ogbunike Progressive Union Mr. Ikegulu Chigozie pledged to beef up support towards alleviating the plight of the downtrodden.


Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah who dedicated the award to the staff and management of the organization, pledged to work assiduously towards enlightening Ndị Anambra on the latest news and fascinating programs that will interest them.


He appreciated Governor Obiano, who has made ABS a digitized Station and one of the best Media outfits in South East, calling on Ndị Anambra to continue following ABS both online and terrestrial
