Over five hundred Anambra children recently converged on Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, for the 2019 Christmas Party.
The annual event was organized by the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs.
Speaking at the event, the Member Representing Nnewi South Constituency One at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Smart Okafor, said that the present administration has carved a niche for itself in recognizing children as an important arm of humanity.
The Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Dr Daniel Ezeanwu, commended the Anambra State government for bringing the children together in a pre-Christmas event calling for its sustenance.
In their respective remarks, a Guardian Councilor and Educationist, Dr Vero Okechukwu and the Speaker of the Anambra Children’s Parliament, Miss Faustina-Mary Okoye, noted that the event had become a crucial umbrella under which children converge and have a distinct feel of the yuletide.
Also present were the Anambra State Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mezue, the immediate-past Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs Rita Maduagwu, among others.
The popular Anambra State Cultural Troupe were among the group that made the event memorable.
