A renowned businessman, Sir Godwin Okeke, has enrolled over two hundred indigent elders of Adazi-Ani his hometown into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme.

The event which took place at the Rise Clinic Adazi-Ani, Anaocha local government area, attracted the elderly from seventy years and above.Sir Godwin also presented bags of rice and cash to members of his age-grade in commemoration of his birthday.

Sir Godwin, who marked his seventieth birthday on the sixth of June this year in Lagos, decided to have a repeat of the celebration this Yuletide with his age mates across all denominations.

Making the presentations, Sir Godwin, accompanied by  his wife, Patricia said it was a thing of joy to reunite with his age mates at seventy in good health, as it reminded him of the young days in the village, adding that the enrollment into the Health Insurance Scheme is a way of ensuring that their health needs are well taken care of.He added that the bags of rice and cash gifts were also to enable them share in the joy of Christmas with their family members and expressed gratitude to God for attaining seventy, charging the privileged in the society to always give assistance to the poor.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Angelina Mbamalu, Mr. Godwin Akulienne and Mrs. Maria Egunofo among others , prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon the Okeke family as they have been a source of assistance to the people of the community, including award of  scholarships to their children, jobs, free medicare  that provided them with eye glasses among others. 

For Mrs. Okeke, the moment was one to remember as the interactions and presence of the villagers brougth a sense of unity,  adding that the purpose of the Health Insurance Scheme was to achieve the goals of the Godwin and Patricia Foundation aimed at reaching out to the poor and the downtrodden in the society.
