About five hundred persons today, December 27, 2019, received free medical treatment from Senator I. G Abana Foundation, while over Sixty four students from both secondary and tertiary schools were equally given scholarships.
During the two day Free Medical Outreach which held at Uruokwe Village, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area, hundreds of indigenes of Enugwu-Ukwu and neighboring communities including the traditional ruler of Enugwu-ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh and his Cabinet, the member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka at the House of Representatives, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo among others graced the occasion.
During the outreach, doctors and nurses were seen giving treatments to beneficiaries with several ailments including diabetes, malaria, eye problems, tests on sugar levels, and blood pressure among others, while medical experts also gave talk on wellness and healthy living.
Speaking, the benefactor, Senator Ikechukwu Abana, said that he started the empowerment nine years ago as part of efforts to provide succor and touch the lives of the less privileged and widows in his community.
He also affirmed that he has no ulterior motives in his laudable charitable works but stressed that as far as he lives, he will continue to do charitable works.
Senator Abana, urged the students who received the scholarship to utilize the opportunity given them and be true ambassadors of their families.
The beneficiaries also received medicated glasses, two kilogrammes of rice each, and other food items.
