The Member representing Anambra East at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Obinna Emenaka, has said that the House will continue to enact laws that will consolidate education in the state.


Mr. Emenaka stated this during the Amakom Youth Foundation’s first year anniversary and unveiling her maiden magazine called “Igodo” at Umueri, Anambra East Local Government area.


Amakom Youth Foundation is a Non Governmental Organization with the aim of improving the standard of living of her people through education especially in the four local government areas that make up Omambala region, which are Oyi, Anyamelum, Anambra East and West Council areas.


The event which featured award presentation to those who have touched lives of the downtrodden in the society attracted Omambala indigenes both in home and diaspora.


In his speech , Mr. Emenaka commended the foundation for the initiative aimed at empowering and impacting on the lives of the youths.


He reiterated that Anambra state will continue to promote education because her children have won in many competitions across the country and made the state proud.


In his speech, the Chairman on the occasion who also doubles as Controller of Correctional Services, Anambra State Command, Barrister Emmanuel Nwakeze, urged youths to desist from social ills and other vices that may mar their future.


While encouraging youths to remain focused on education and strive for excellence, Barrister Nwakeze, called on Ndi Anambra to respond to the Akulueuno clarion call of Governor Obiano which he said will accelerate pace of development in the state.


In a presentation by a student, Miss Chioma Oraekie who spoke on the need to promote female education emphasized that education is the best legacy to give a child, according to her, Nigerians should stop the notion that women’s education ends in kitchen, but rather, women’s education is crucial for national development.


The founder, Mr. Emeka Asike, affirmed that he started the programme to assist in raising the standard of education in the Omambala region, stressing that within one year, the foundation has provided scholarship to over Six hundred students.


The benefactors who received Omambala education ambassador awards, include, Mr. Obinna Emenaka, Mrs Ekwi Ajide of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Reverend Father Obi Oguejiofor and Engineer Emma Akpeh among others commended the foundation for recognizing them and pledged to re-double effort towards alleviating the plight of the downtrodden.


The event climaxed with cutting of the anniversary cake and unveiling of the maiden Igodo magazine.
