The life of Mr Thompson Chukwubuota Emenuga at one hundred years of
age is described by many as iconic, rare, a milestone and a blessing that is worthy of emulation.


No wonder the celebration of his centenary birthday in his country home at Umugama village Umuchu attracted eminent personalities and relatives from far and near who came to tap such rare blessing from God.


Mr Thompson Emenuga, popularly known as Ozuomee is a veteran of three wars, namely, World War Two, Congo war and the Nigerian Civil war.


Born on forth April, 1919 to the family of Mr Emenuga and Uzoaku
Iyiegbu and he married Mrs Bessie Emenuga, whose marriage is blessed with nine surviving children, thirty-four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.


The centenary birthday celebration of Mr Emenuga commenced with a Thanksgiving service officiated by the Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Right Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, with other members of the clergy and graced by the traditional ruler of Umuchu, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu, the member representing Aguata One in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Dr Carter Umeh, the President General of Umuchu Improvement Union, Engineer Emeka Ononuju, and an illustrious son of Umuchu, Mr Godwin Ezeemo.


In his message during the service, Bishop Ikeakor thanked God for the life of Mr Thompson Emenuga, which he said is filled with God’s love and grace, adding that life after death, is also important as everyone should desire eternity which he said can be attained through Christ
Jesus.


In a remark, the celebrant, Mr Emenuga thanked God for sparing his life and surrounding him with a lovely wife and many children, noting that hard work, perseverance and trust in God are virtues that can elongate one’s life.
The wife of the celebrant, Mrs Bessie Emenuga described her husband of sixty-nine years as kindhearted, unassuming and a God fearing man and prayed God to give them more years to enjoy on earth.


For the children of the celebrant, Mr Victor, Uche, Okey, Evangelist Okwudili and Pastor Mrs Chinelo Chukwuemeka among others, their father laboured through thick and thin to bring them up and described his one hundred years on earth as a huge blessing to the family.


Prayers for the celebrant and his wife by Bishop Ikeakor, reception of guests, cutting of the centenary birthday cake, presentation of gifts and dance by the celebrant also featured.
