A legal luminary, Emeka Maduabuchi, has been elected the President General of Nnokwa Progress Union, in Idemili South local government area.


The new executive was elected at the Annual General Meeting of the town, where the outgoing NPU executive led by Sir Joseph Uchendu rounded up its six year leadership of two terms in office.


The election supervised by officials of the State Ministry of Local Government, Town Union and Chieftaincy Matters, was witnessed by Igwe Emmanuel Ajamma of Nnokwa and his cabinet chiefs, eminent sons of the town, including Dr Obiora Chukwuka of Greenlife Pharmaceuticals, Engineer Simon Ukpaka, among other indigenes of Nnokwa.


Earlier in his valedictory address, Sir Joe Uchendu enumerated the various programmes of his administration and commended Governor Willie Obiano for his first and second phases of community choose your project initiative, in which Nnokwa benefitted immensely.


Shortly after oath of office, the new President General, Barrister Emeka Maduabuchi, promised to tap from abundant human and material resources in Nnokwa to lift the town higher.


He also pledged to explore opportunities of cooperative development with the Willie Obiano administration in Awka as well other national and international development agencies.


The new PG enjoined the people of Nnokwa at home and in diaspora, to strive towards unity of purpose, patriotic endeavours and good followership, to enable his administration serve them better.


Two deputies in the person of Sir Emeka Nzomiwu, and Dr Chukwujekwu Ukpaka were also elected, while Honourable Ifeanyi Ifedigbo, was elected as the Secretary.
