Over three hundred youths have benefited from skill acquisition workshop and symposium, organized by Prince Rueben Nwafor Tabansi Charitable Foundation in Nri, Anaocha council area.


The empowerment workshop held at Agbadani Hall, Nri Museum, with the theme, “Equipping Youths with pre-requisite skills and value needed in the journey to success,” was aimed at integrating and re-directing the youths with practical, critical and necessary skills that would enable them add value to the labour market.


Declaring the five day workshop open, the facilitator and founder, Iyom Jane Duru, said the foundation was borne out of the need to consolidate on her father’s legacy in investing in human development.


The United state based facilitator said the foundation tends to utilize the platform to unite Africans on the concepts of pan Africanism, to help restore the essence of hard work.


Exposing the youths on the yardstick for measuring success, a resource person, Mr. Uchenna Nweze, who harped on the prevalence of get quick rich syndrome, highlighted that success is not measured in geometric sequence.


Lamenting that the society has lost value, Mr. Nweze, noted that technology has broken barriers, reminding the youths of the need to make conscious efforts to overcome adversity.


Commending the initiative for a progressive society, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh of English Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, observed that the society belongs to the youths, hence the need to develop and fashion out a future through entrepreneurship skills, adding that skills market a man.


Another resource person, Chief Anselm Tabansi acknowledged that the society has moved to a knowledge based platform, calling on the youths to develop a passion for the discovery of innate and creative skills.


Other speakers including Dr Prudence Udeh, who spoke on planning as critical component of success, called on participants to gear their mindset towards maximizing the value for success.


Speaking to the ABS, the convener and a onetime state Legislator, Barrister Anthonia Tabansi-Okoye, said the workshop was imperative in inspiring and empowering seed of humanity.


Participants, including Chinonso Onyeanusi and Emmanuela Onwudinjo, thanked the facilitator for impacting on humanity.


Scholarship was issued to six students from various villages of the community.
