The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, has called on Ndigbo to embrace love and unity in order to be relevant in the nation’s polity.

Chief Nwodo, made the call shortly after he was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of “Eze Onunekwuligbo nine” by the traditional ruler of Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo, during his first Ofala festival and his three years coronation anniversary.

Chief Nwodo said being relevant in affairs of the nation will help address all forms of marginalization being suffered by Ndigbo.

Chief Nwodo who was accompanied by a Former Governor of Enugu State, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, and the traditional ruler of Nsukka, Igwe Linus Obayi, regretted that after the Nigerian civil war, the Federal Government has continued to pay lip service to infrastructure in the region, leading to their steady decay.

He condemned the free visa offer to Africans by the federal government, describing it as illegal, abrogation of act of National Assembly, which portends grave danger for the security of the nation, especially Ndigbo.

The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo urged various communities, religious and political leaders to put measures in place to discourage the young Igbo population from drug abuse and other forms of social vices.

Earlier in his maiden Ofala message, the traditional ruler of Nanka, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo, said in Nanka community, Chieftaincy titles are usually given to encourage few individuals who have distinguished themselves in selfless service to humanity, and to inspire new ones.

While thanking God for His blessings in his first three years on the throne, Igwe Ezeilo, enjoined his subjects to join hands in building and bequeathing a more united and progressive Nanka on her future generations.

The Traditional Prime Minister of Nanka, Chief Kofi Obijiofor, the newly elected President-General of Nanka Progressive Union, Chief Paul Chinedu, a Cultural proponent in Nanka Community Chief Osita Ezechukwu, as well as Chief Azikiwe Ezeme, said the festival serves as a re-union for Nanka indigenes, thanking Governor Willie Obiano for adequate security measures taken to give Ndi-Anambra a crime-free festive period.
