Amawbia Community has presented their Traditional Ruler Elect, Chief Chinyelu Molokwu to the Chairman, Transition Committee of Awka South Local Government Area Mr Leo Nwuba.
The ceremony took place at the Council Headquarters.

Paul Ezeoke reports that the Igwe Elect was accompanied by some stakeholders in the community.
In his speech, Mr Nwuba commended the people of the Community for peaceful and successful election and urged them to give the Traditional Ruler Elect all necessary support to succeed.

He reminded the President General of the Town of the need to work harmoniously with the new traditional ruler and explained that while the President General is the administrative Head of the Town Union, the Traditional Ruler stool is the Custodian of Culture and tradition as well as the Chief Security Officer of the Community.
Mr Nwuba also urged the Traditional Ruler Elect to carry everybody along and sustain efforts towards entrenching peace and stability in the town.
He said the council will soon present the Traditional Ruler Elect to the State Government.

Also speaking, the member representing Awka South Constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Chukwuma Okoye expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election which he said would further strengthen unity and peace in the community.
Chief Okoye noted that emergence of Chief Molokwu was a collective will of the people of Amawbia to bring a new dawn to the town and assured him of total support.
In his remarks, the President General of the Town, Comrade Ebele Nwaufo said the Traditional Ruler Elect met the expectations of people, noting that the community has remained calm and peaceful after the election.
Responding, Chief Molokwu reassured that he would work with other contestants to the throne as well as other stakeholders to move the community forward.
Chief Molokwu emerged the Traditional Ruler Elect by polling two hundred and forty four votes to beat other contestants during the election held at Okpalaigwe Square Amawbia.
He will succeed the late traditional ruler Igwe Michael Okoye who ascended the throne in 1976 and celebrated his last Ofala in January 2018.
