The Commissioner for Public Utilities Mr Emeka Ezenwanne has called on the staff of the Ministry to be alive to their responsibilities.


Addressing a cross section of the Management Staff of the Ministry in Awka, Mr Ezenwanne urged them to shun absenteeism, lateness to duty and truancy to move the Ministry forward.


He reminded them of the importance of adhering strictly to Civil Service rules and regulations adding that they should imbibe the culture of hard-work and dedication to duty as a mark of appreciation to Governor Willie Obiano’s kind disposition to issues affecting their welfare.


The Commissioner, frowned at the attitude of some staff who he said do not come to work unless during verification exercises, important meetings or when there is something to share and called for an attitudinal change.


Mr Ezenwanne an Engineer urged the staff to always treat official documents with dispatch and endeavour to apply the habit of prudent management of scare resources in the discharge of their duties.


In a speech, the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Reverend Polycarp Amanzechukwu commended the Commissioner for carrying the Staff along in the discharge of his duties, assuring him that the staff will remain peaceful, loyal and dedicated to duty.


Reverend Amanzechukwu praised Governor Willie Obiano for creating an enabling environment for workers in the State to operate as well as appointing Mr Emeka Ezenwanne as Commissioner who he described as a seasoned administrator.
Also speaking, the Head of Administration, Mrs Gladys Okafor thanked the Commissioner for celebrating with the staff during the Christmas period and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
The meeting featured special prayers.
