Governor Willie Obiano has described security of life and property as everybody’s business.


Speaking at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Awka during a Mass to Mark this year’s Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration, Governor Obiano called for a collective effort towards the actualization of a safer Nigeria.


Governor Obiano charged the citizenry to always contribute to the strengthening of the security apparatus of both the State and the Nigerian-Nation.


The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Dr Nkem Okeke while commending Officers and Men of the security agencies in the State for all their efforts in ensuring adequate security of life and property in Anambra, called on Officers and Men of the Nigeria Armed Forces to be more committed to duty to ensure a safer and stronger Nigeria.


He encouraged Nigerians to always support the security agencies to enable them serve the country better.


Earlier in a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor whose message centered on Christ’s baptism, charged Christians to always portray Christ through their daily lives.


He called on Government at different levels to place priority on security of life and property which he said is the cardinal function of the government.


Bishop Ezeokafor commended Governor Willie Obiano for his effective security network in Anambra State which he noted has restored the confidence of investors to Anambra State and called on other Governors to emulate him.


The service also witnessed the presence of the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Uchenna Okafor, State Head of Service, Mr Harry Uduh, Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, President Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State Chapter, Chief Damain Okeke-Ogene, Managing Director of Anambra State Synage and Advertisement Agency, Chief Jude Emecheta, among other government functionaries.


Anthem by the choir and special prayer for the members of the Nigerian legion, the State and the Nation were highlights of the event.
