The Commissioner For Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, his Trade and Commerce counterpart, Mr. Uchenna Okafor , the Managing Director Of Fire Services, Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi have embarked on inspection of water projects in markets in Onitsha.
The projects were in fulfillment of the promise made by Governor Willie Obiano to sink bore holes in the markets to assist during emergency.
While speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection, the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Ezenwanne said that all the boreholes are solar powered with overhead tanks that are customized.
He maintained that market is important to the present administration to enhance the service of the fire fighters and ensure prompt response during emergency.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor said it is their duty as a proactive government to ensure that matters concerning trade and commerce are taking care of, calling on traders to cooperate with Engineer Ezenwanne to ensure smooth execution of the projects.
The Managing Director of Fire Service, Rtd Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi , commended Governor Willie Obiano for the project, stating that in addition to all the projects at hand which needs more resources, the governor deemed it fit to promote trading which is at the heart of Ndi Anambra.
The Chairman of Ochanja Market, Mr. Benson Ojukwu thanked the Governor for keeping his promises assuring that they will give their maximum support in ensuring that the fire service works.
In his remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Reverend Polycarp Amanzechukwu maintained that the Ministry will continue to see that the development projects of Obiano administration is preserved and protected.
The projects visited were Marine site, Bright Street, Ochanja project sites among others.
