Nigerians have been urged to embrace dialogue in resolving differences to discourage divisive tendencies.


Speaking, in Awka, the state President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene noted that war has not solved any problem.


Paul Ezeoke reports that Chief Okeke-Ogene lamented that wars have destroyed generations and retarded all indices of development without yielding any benefit to anybody.


He urged the federal Government to take more proactive measures to entrench sincere reconciliation and reintegration that would give all parts of the country a sense of belonging, noting that increasing level of tribal agitation and sense of marginalization in different parts of the country require urgent and conscious attention to promote enduring peace and unity.


Chief Okeke-Ogene explained that enthroning true federalism would accelerate over all development of the country through efficient harnessing of human and material resources as well as stimulate healthy competition among the various regions and zones.


He cautioned youths against acts that could escalate violence and hatred urging the federal government to tackle the challenge of insecurity, hunger and poverty.


On the investiture of Governor Obiano as a Papal Knight by Pope Francis, Chief Okeke-Ogene said the honour is well deserved as the Governor’s humanitarian services have uplifted many lives, noting that the investiture is an honour to the state and the Catholic Church in the South-East.


Also speaking, an APGA chieftain, Dr Mike Omenugha said the honour is a further testimony that the world recognize and appreciate the remarkable contributions of Governor Obiano to the growth of the church and human capital development.


He noted that for the first time, people with disabilities who constitute over twenty-five percent of the population have been given a sense of belonging both in employment and political appointments while the wife, Dr Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has continued to give life line to physically challenged persons, widows and other less privileged persons.


Dr Omenugha noted that Governor Obiano’s administration transformed Basden Memorial Special Education Centre Isulo, in Orumba South Local council area into academic centre of excellence to give the pupils and students opportunity to attain their full potential in life while teachers have continued to be motivated to promote productivity.
