For the success of the 2019 of Awka ancient kingdom Egwu Uzu, celebrated on the 28th day of December, the Custodian of Awka Culture, Obi Gibson Nwosu has offered Thanksgiving to God for making the event a success and for his guidance and protection all through last year 2019.


The thanksgiving service which held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, attracted the cabinet chiefs of Awka, Ndi Nze na Ozo, family members, people of Awka, and friends of the community who joined Obi Nwosu to the altar of God in thanksgiving.


The traditional ruler of Awka,Obi Nwosu had since after Egwu Uzu 2019 visited other denominations including the Catholic and Pentecostal churches to offer thanksgiving to God.


Obi Gibson Nwosu in his speech shortly after the service, prayed for a more united and formidable Awka, reassuring every denomination of a level playing ground as he is there to protect the interest of everyone in Awka irrespective of their religious, political and tribal affiliation.


The Traditional Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment and that of the cabinet Chiefs towards supporting Obi Nwosu towards a better Awka community.


Receiving the Traditional Ruler of Awka, the Archdeacon, Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, Venerable Samuel Okonkwo, on behalf of the Dean of the Cathedral, the Bishop of Awka Diocese and the Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, the Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, prayed for peace and progress of Awka, and for God to bless the Igwe and his aids with wisdom and strength to always make decisions that will be for the interest of his subjects.


In a sermon during the thanksgiving service,a member of the cathedral clergy, Reverend Emmanuel Ajakor while speaking on the theme, “The call to True Discipleship”, urged Christians to prioritize their commitments to the things of God and selfless service to humanity.
