Recognizing the child’s academic performance in the school was the main focus 0f a ceremony held at Umuohi Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area.
The event attracted pupils and students of primary and post primary schools within the community.Speaking on the essence of the forum, a community leader in the area, Chief Obidon Onujiogu who said it was aimed at promoting the spirit of academic excellence among pupils and students within the community emphasized that the survival of any society depends largely on the education of her youths.Chief Onujiogu enjoined members of the community to close ranks in encouraging pupils and students of the community towards excellent performance in their various schools for the overall development of the community.
In a speech, the President General, Umuohi Okija, Sir Ken Emeakayi declared the readiness of the community to partner with the organizers of the forum in ensuring that youths of the community who show eagerness to acquire education are not allowed to drop out of school because of poverty. In their separate remarks, Chief Joseph Onujiogu, a former member, Anambra State Education Commission, Lady Bene Nwanekezi and a school principal, Mr. Augustine Osungwu, expressed satisfaction with the forum which they noted will go a long way in souring pupils and students within the area to excellent academic performances.
In a vote of thanks, Mrs. Gift Ohazulike thanked the organizers of the event for their interest in hard work among pupils, students, teachers and other members of the community. The event featured presentation of prizes to pupils and students who performed excellently in their various schools within the community as well as recognition of some members of the community whose behaviors are adjudged exemplary.
