Governor Willie Obiano has continued to receive commendations from Ndi Anambra on the transformation of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, into a world class media outfit.

The latest commendation came from a retired staff of the ABS, Chief Joe Mmaduekwe, who retired twenty years ago and paid a visit to the ABS Corporate Headquarters in Awka recently.

Chief Mmaduekwe, who barely recognized the present ABS because of the rebuilding of facilities and world class equipment in both Radio and TV studios, commended Governor Willie Obiano for distinguishing himself among his fellow Governors in the country through unique leadership style.

He also commended the Governor for his various good works in Anambra state, and called on him to give more attention to rural areas, as a way of solidifying his inclusive governance approach.

Commenting on the fifty year anniversary of the Nigeria-Biafra war, Chief Mmaduekwe advised Nigeria leaders to avert all that could lead to another war in the country, including nepotism, selfishness, inequitable distribution of democracy dividends, among others.

Narrating his ugly experiences as a full participant in the Nigeria-Biafra war, Chief Mmaduekwe urged young Nigerians to shun acts that could trigger war, saying that war is better imagined than witnessed and it is not the solution to Nigeria’s problems.

Commending ABS for championing the Igbo culture and tradition through its programs, Chief Mmaduekwe called on Ndigbo to join hands in promoting their language and culture, which he described as the best in Nigeria.

Speaking on longevity, the ABS retired staff, who is now ninety years old, encouraged young people to always do good and eschew evil, maintain regular exercise, and stick to right diets to live long.
