Anambra state government has restated it’s resolve to implementing the new minimum wage in the state with effect from first of January 2020.


Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu stated this shortly after signing an agreement on the implementation of the new minimum wage with Joint Public Service Negotiating Council at the Government House, Awka.


Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Professor Chukwulobelu who assured that the new minimum wage aims at motivating workers in the state to be more productive, said that the state’s civil servants  should  reciprocate the gesture as expected of them.

Also speaking , the Chairman Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, Mr. Ikenna Jibuike thanked the state government for always giving attention to workers welfare, noting that with the implementation of the new minimum wage, Governor Willie Obiano has created a template upon which subsequent Governors will base.
He however assured that with the implementation of the minimum wage, workers in the state will work harder for the improvement of the state Internally Generated Revenue.

The state Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh, Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra state chapter,  Mr. Jerry Nnubia, among others were present at the event.


Recall that the Implementation of the new minimum wage was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on April 18th, 2019.
