The remains of late Pa Cyril Nwoye Umeh have been committed to earth at his compound Umualu village Ugwuoba, in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu state.


Aged eighty two, late pa Umeh was a devout Christian and the father of Dr George -Franklin Umeh of philosophy Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.


The requiem mass that commenced the final journey of late Pa Cyril to eternity which took place at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Ugwuoba , was officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor.


Delivering a homily, Most Reverend Ezeokafor said that the living owe it to the dead to be praying for the repose of their souls either through penance or prayers in relationship with the saints.


Most Reverend Ezeokafor noted that it is important for one to live out his call on earth, and praised one of the sons of the deceased Dr George Franklin for his contributions to the growth of the church in the diocese, even as he urged children of the deceased to look after their mother as their obligation.


On his part, the third son of the deceased, Dr George -Franklin Umeh said their father laid a good example for them as he saw them all through university education.


On behalf of the daughter’s in-law, Mrs. Ann Umeh said she had a cordial relationship with her father in-law, and that she will miss him now that he is no more.


The event was attended by over thirty priests, sympathizers .. from the UNIZIK family, choir members selected from various parishes and groups from the diocese.
