Every community in Anambra state can now boost of major project going on in their domain courtesy of the Anambra state government.
For the people of Ojoto in Idemili South council area, the reconstruction work at the over twenty years Ezi idoto gully erosion site is a memory for keeps.
Staff Reporter Blessing Ijedibia who was at the gully erosion reports that the people of Ojoto are appreciative of the government gesture.
The over twenty years Ezi Idoto gully erosion site close to Mmili John in Ojoto, Idemili council area before now has been a source of worry to the people of the area as the gully erosion has devastated farm lands and economic trees.
But now hope rises for reclaiming the land courtesy of the state government and World Bank.
At the site, the construction company handling the project condoned the area with safety signs.
It was also observed that some portions of the gully erosion site have undergone various stages of reconstruction process and now at the asphalt stage with thick stone base while others are at different stages of reconstruction process with a wide drainage at the middle to contain the volume of flood . Workers were seen constructing more safety facilities to avert danger while heavy duty vehicles convey construction materials to and fro the site.
Commenting on the development an indigene of Ojoto who is also an Okada rider that conveys food to the workers Mr. Ikechukwu Onwughalu, said he is happy as records show that the gully erosion has caused many havoc to the community.
On his part, Mr. Simon Egbonu thanked Governor Obiano for even distribution of democracy dividends to all the community stressing that they will reclaim the land for useful purpose.
Also speaking Mr. Ebuka Okoye said Anambra state government has been meeting with the demands of communities and has been paying compensation where necessary.
