The Chairman Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, AiRS, Dr David Nzekwu has stressed the importance of dedication to duty.
Dr Nzekwu stated this during a meeting with all the Zonal Tax Authorities in Anambra Central, North and South and their subordinates at the Revenue house, Awka.
He encouraged them to put in more effort while acknowledging the tremendous increase in the state IGR to sixteen billion naira in 2019, which he described as impressive.
He said ANSSID has been useful and helpful in linking individual transactions made by taxpayers in the state.
Dr Nzekwu further pledged to raise the state IGR to nothing less than forty billion naira in 2020.
He stated that every company who fails to file their Annual Tax Returns after the stipulated date of January 31st 2020 would be debited with the sum of five hundred thousand naira penalty, while the individuals would also be debited with the sum of fifty thousand naira respectively if they fail to file theirs after 31st March, 2020.
He said, he had already written to the state Head of Service and the governor intimating them on the issue of filing of Annual Tax Returns by the individual and civil servants.
The meeting was coordinated by the Head Assessment and Collections, AiRS, Mr, Chika Ofomata who briefed the participants on the agenda of the meeting which bothers on key performance review, new direction for Direct Tax Assessment, guidelines for 2020 year of assessment and KPI for Assessment officers.
