Following plans by the Anambra State Government to build three world class fish villages in the three senatorial districts of the State, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Fisheries and Aquaculture Business Development Agency, FABDA, Mr Emeka Iloghalu, accompanied by teams from critical agencies, has embarked on the location assessment tour at the proposed sites for the project.
Among the teams that inspected the sites were the FABDA team led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Emeka Iloghalu, a team from Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, another team from the ministry of Agriculture and the Dula Nigeria Limited, an expert in Aquaculture Business.
Speaking to the journalists during the exercise, the FABDA boss, Mr Iloghalu noted that the state government will create more employment and strengthen the economy through investing heavily on aquaculture.
He added that the large scale aquaculture business the state government is embarking on will also be a center of excellence for the processing, packaging and distribution of the fishes within and outside the state and even beyond.
The Managing Director of ANSIPPA, Mr Jide Ikeakor represented by a Business Relationship Manager in the Agency, Mr Odera Aguluka assured that the agency will continue to attract investors in the state by creating and maintaining enabling environment for business development.
On his part, the Managing Director, Dula Nigeria Limited, Mr Adeyemi Adesina, who noted that the locations are very viable for large scale aquaculture business, expressed optimism of building a good business relationship with Anambra state government.
Among the proposed sites for the fish villages are: an over six hundred plots of land located beside the Ezu and Omambala river, Aguleri, for Anambra North, five hundred plots of land near the natural spill away from Agulu Lake, Adazi-Nnukwu, which is for Anambra central and that of Anambra South senatorial district, located near Ogbo river Uhuala Village, Akpo.
