History will be made tomorrow, February 5, 2020 as the first Federal Court of Appeal in Anambra state and the 18th in Nigeria will be commissioned in Awka by Gov Willie Obiano.
For 29 years since its creation in 1991, Anambra state has desired to have the appellate court within its territory. Successive governments made efforts to no avail until Gov Willie Obiano commitedly set up a committee headed by Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, in 2018, to pursue and achieve this goal.
The committee worked assiduously to ensure that Gov Obiano’s desire to bring justice closer to Ndi Anambra was achieved. The stress and hazard of travelling over long distances to attend the appellate court in Enugu is finally over.
A great milestone will be recorded in the history of Anambra state as the Obiano administration achieves yet another feat. The presence of the federal court of appeal in Anambra will reposition the Judiciary in the state for greater good and delivery of justice to Ndi Anambra.
