Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke has received an award of excellence from Nigerian Bar Association, Anaocha Branch.
The Deputy Governor received the award when some delegates of the Association paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House Awka.
Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that according to the Chairman of the Group, Barrister Jideofor Okongu, the Deputy Governor qualified for the award through his humility and supportive role to the performing government of Governor Willie Obiano, which he adjudged the best so far in the state.
Barrister Okongu commended the present administration for attracting Court of Appeal to the state after twenty nine years of existence, saying that with the presence of the appellate court in the state, the stress in search and administration of justice would be minimized for both lawyers and litigants, as according to him over ninety-nine percent of cases handled at the Enugu Court of Appeal emanates from Anambra state.
In a remark, the Chairman Bar Women Committee of the Association, Barrister Chinelo Okongu, thanked the Deputy Governor for receiving them warmly, and promised that the association will always support the good work of the Obiano government.
Responding, Deputy Governor Okeke thanked the group for the recognition and restated the commitment of the present administration to serving Ndi Anambra better, recognizing the transient nature of power.
He however disclosed that the institution of the appellate court in Awka, the state capital, is aimed at ensuring easy and quick dispensation of justice to litigants in Anambra state.
