Anambra State Police Command has paraded a six-man suspected armed robbery syndicate that specializes in car snatching and other criminal activities.
The suspects, mostly married men with kids who are in their thirties and forties, according to the police, were arrested in different locations in Anambra and Delta States last month when credible intelligence led the Special Anti Robbery Squad, dispatch a team to their hideouts.
Some of the suspects were rounded up while trying to auction one of their looted vehicles.
Parading the suspects, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, maintained that the status of Anambra as the safest State in Nigeria cannot be truncated by criminal elements, no matter the circumstance.
Items recovered from the suspects include one berretta pistol, one locally made pistol, and one anti-tracking device.
One of the suspects a forty-two-year-old Michael Obinna from Achina in Aguata Local Government Area, had just been released from prison six months ago for the same crime of buying stolen vehicles from the suspects and selling to unsuspecting members of the public.
According to him, he has been in the illegal business for more than three years, and deals directly with the other suspects.
Another suspect, Mr Obinna Nwabunike, who is also married with two children, explained how he acquired the Beretta pistol and what lured him into criminality.
The suspects, according to the police, will be charged to court for prosecution.
