The newly commissioned Court of Appeal, Awka Division, has been described as an important milestone in bringing justice closer to Ndi-Igbo in general and Ndi-Anambra in particular.

According to some respondents who spoke to ABS correspondent Joseph Egbeocha, the Awka Division of the Appellate court, commissioned by the President of Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, alongside Governor Willie Obiano, will bring relief to litigants and counsel , who hitherto travel to Enugu in search of justice.

Speaking at the event, some Senior Advocates of Nigeria, including Dr.
Onyechi Ikpeazu, Chief Ozoemena Onyali and Arthur Obi-Okafor, said the new court of appeal will, among other things, spur junior lawyers to aspire to be Senior Advocates, in addition to minimising expenditures and risks involved in going to the Appeal Court in Enugu.

Others, including the State President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Union, ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue and the Deputy Chairman of Awka South Council Area, Mr Obiora Okafor, described the commissioning of the appellate court as justice for Ndi-Igbo, thanking the President of Court of Appeal, Justice Bulkachuwa and President Muhammadu Buhari for being instrumental to making the event a reality.

Commissioning the project, at the end of which inaugural court sitting was held, Justice Bulkachuwa said with the presence of the appellate court, the judiciary will ensure effective presence in Anambra, urging lawyers to always stick to their oaths of office.
