The Nigerian Communications Commission has organized a programme for school children of different levels and ages in Abuja with the aim of protecting them from cyber related crimes.


Ekwi Ajide who attended the cyber security enlightenment programme reports that stakeholders harped on the need to make the cyber space secured for women, youths and children.


The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Garba Danbatta while inaugurating the Cyber Security Enlightenment Awareness Campaign for Schools in the thirty six States of the Federation maintained that the campaign will expose them to the necessary information and knowledge on internet facilities.


The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. lsa Pantami represented by his Special Assistant, on Technical Matters Dr. Femi explained that Cyber Security is one of the major technologies that has a huge Market with many challenges.


He advised the students to be advocates that will project Nigeria as a country that produces cyber professionals and not Cyber criminals.


The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, represented by Princess Jumai Idoneje, said since Nigeria is rated the largest user of internet in Africa, considerable efforts should be applied to ensure their protection.


In a presentation, a guest lecturer, Mr. Chukwuemeka Monyei, charged youths to be mindful of what they upload on the internet.
