The Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo has collated six Canons and two Archdeacons at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.
The Bishop during the event that attracted dignitaries from all walks of life charged the newly appointed Canons and Archdeacons to keep the vows they made and fulfill the duties of the office to which they have been called.
In a sermon titled ” Check your Inside” the Bishop of Oru Diocese, Right Reverend Geoffrey Chukwunenye stressed that it takes discipline for a man called by God to succeed and urged the priests to develop their inner minds before they can make any impact like the Biblical Joseph who disciplined himself inside the prison and succeeded against all odds.
Bishop Chukwunenye encouraged them not to be deterred by any obstacle as God will always be with them to lift them higher.
The new Canons and Archdeacons took oaths of submission, allegiance to God canonical obedience and made declaration of submission to Synod.
Archdeacon Izuchukwu Obiekwe and Canon Ifeanyi Nsofor who spoke on behalf of others thanked God for the elevation and promised to keep their vows.
Signing of Oath by the Canons and Archdeacons as well as vestment of the Archdeacons and their installation were the climax of the event.
