The proposed Shanahan
University , Onitsha-Ojoto building project has been officially inaugurated.


The event which took place at the University’s main campus, 3-3 Onitsha, attracted the Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, who led a team that laid the foundation stone of various projects in the Catholic university.


The event was attended by well meaning Nigerians, foreigners and technocrats.
Archbishop Okeke in his speech , stated that the foundation laying ceremony coincided with his eighteenth Episcopal Anniversary, noting that the university is going to be people oriented and mainly for less privileged persons, who could not secure admission in most tertiary institutions.


While announcing that the university will run a multi campus system with the main campus at Onitsha, Archbishop Okeke, expressed satisfaction with those that volunteered to sponsor some projects at the site.


Later in his speech, Governor Willie Obiano, represented by the Chief of Staff, Chief Primus Odili, expressed hope that the University will eschew cultism, molestation, examination malpractice among other social vices as seen in various Universities.


The chairman, implementation Committee, Professor Pat Utomi portrayed it as a first class university where human beings will be nurtured and extolled Archbishop Okeke for his foresight.
