The Anambra State Police Command has described as misleading online reports captioned “Who knows Uzochukwu” allegedly credited to a yet to be identified Youth Corper serving in Kebbi State.
According to a statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer Mr Haruna Mohammed, the said corps member claimed that he visited an orphanage home within the vicinity and met a young boy named Uzochukwu, aged four years allegedly kidnapped and resold while the kidnappers were arrested by the Police and the child was kept in the orphanage home at Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State.
The statement said the writer further claimed that the child,Uzochukwu was a pupil at Saint Theresa Nursery and Primary School 3-3 Onitsha before his predicament.
It however, explained that preliminary investigation carried out by the Command revealed that one Mrs Francisca Chukwujike of Omife 3-3 Onitsha presently standing trial in Kebbi State allegedly conspired with some staff of the orphanage home in Kebbi State and trafficked the child who is also an orphan kept in the said orphanage home.
The statement said that consequently, the woman Mrs Francisca Chukwujike later named the child “Uzochukwu” and brought him to 3-3 Onitsha were she enrolled him into Saint Theresa Nursery and primary School Onitsha before she was eventually trailed and arrested by the Police.
It added that the child was taken back to the orphanage home at Benin-Kebbi along with other children trafficked while both Mrs Francisca and her accomplices at the orphanage home were arrested at charged to court for prosecution.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police CP John Abang, urges the public to disregard the report for it is not only false but totally misleading.
