Anambra State Government has reiterated its commitment towards boosting agricultural development through cluster farming.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Farm Implement and Mechanization, Mr Paul Nwosu stated this during an inspection tour to assess the proposed cites mapped out for that purpose by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Fadama Three.
Mr Nwosu, revealed that the target is to make Anambra State a strong base for agricultural development in order to boost economic activities, promote economic growth and development and create more jobs for the unemployed graduates.
Contributing, the State Project Coordinator, Anambra State Fadama Project, Mr Chukwuka Egbueh, noted that the initiative will help sustain the Fadama Project in the State as the facilities including the Pivot Irrigation system will be put to best use.
He expressed optimism that the initiative will attract more investors in the Agricultural sector of the State in addition to positioning the State as one of the fastest growing economies in Nigeria.
A Community leader in Ubahuekwem Ihiala in Ihiala Local Government Area, Chief Odumegwu Ken-Moses while commending the State government for paying great attention to the Agricultural sector of the State underscored agricultural development as the solution to the economic instability of the country.
He assured of contributing his quota towards achieving the dream of the state government in the agricultural sector, calling on the State government to pay attention to their access road in the area which he said is about collapsing.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Stephanie Keri-Uzor was among the team that carried out the site inspection.
Among the cites visited, were the Center Pivot Irrigation system at Umunankwo – Ubahuekwem farm settlement, covering over five hundred hacters of land, Near Ulasi River, also over five hundred hacters of land near Usham river Uli, both in Ihiala Local Government Area.
