Anambra State Citizenry have been urged to assimilate the importance of water to healthy living and general well being.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities Mr Emeka Ezenwanne made the call when the International Water Day Committee paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The Committee which is set to commemorate the International Water Day set aside by the United Nations on the twenty-second of March with the theme, “Water and Climate Change”, is headed by the Wife of the Anambra State Governor Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano to enlighten the populace on the use and importance of water.
Representing the Governor’s Wife, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Donor Agency, Mrs Mary Ogugua, said that Dr. Obiano in her capacity as the Water Sanitation and Hygiene Sector, WASH Ambassador has continued to champion the International Water Day celebration.
She said this year’s celebration which is going to be in collaboration with the National Water Resources Capacity Building Network is going to be elaborate.
In addition, the Secretary and Programme Manager of RUWASA, Mr Emeka Okwuogu, said that this year’s celebration will involve Seminar and walk to sensitize people on the need to use clean water.
Receiving the Committee, Commissioner Ezenwanne commended the efforts of the committee towards stressing the importance and use of water, adding that the Ministry will be willing to support the activities.
The ABS UNICEF desk officer, Mrs Franka Madike, Civil Society Gender Prospective and Social Development Sector, Eucharia Anekwe were among those at the visit.
