Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has commenced a four-day state-wide immunization campaign against polio for children below fifty-nine months.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Mrs. Chioma Ezenyimulu, who disclosed this at a meeting, said the state government is ever ready to respond to health emergencies and give NdiAnambra adequate healthcare services.
Dr Ezeenyimulu, who noted that the state government last week, organized Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, where routine immunization were administered to children, explained that the latest immunization campaign is timely response to circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Viruses, which broke out in Kogi State late last year.
She called on parents, caregivers and all stakeholders to join hands in making the immunization campaign a huge success, adding that schools, churches, mosques and other places where children are found will be visited during the exercise.
Present during the meeting included officials of the World Health Organisation, WHO, led by the State Coordinator, Dr Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, and the UNICEF, led by Mr. Diden Gbofeyi.
