For some time now, it would appear that the application of strategic dialogue in resolving conflict at all levels has remained elusive.

Perhaps this was why , the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, IPCR, embarked on a one-day sensitization on the importance of using strategic dialogue in conflict resolution.

The event with the theme, “Peaceful Coexistence in Nnewi South, Nnewi Federal Constituency”, was held at Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area, with woman leaders and youths amongst others in attendance.

While speaking on the importance of the programme, the Director General, IPCR, Dr Bakut Bakut, represented by Ms. Nneka Ikelionwu, identified economic crunch, marginalization, corruption, religious intolerance as some of the major factors responsible for violent clashes in Nigeria.

Dr Bakut, maintained that the citizenry must learn to live together despite differences in tribe, language, culture and creed.

On their parts, Mr. John Ugwunne and Mrs. Cynthia Ozohili, who represented Honourable Chris Azubogu, member representing Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo in the Federal House of Representatives and also the sponsor of the programme, applauded the peace being witnessed in Nnewi, adding that it could only be sustained if the citizens decide to do so.

Contributing, the Coordinator of the programme, Mr. Owen Okoye, urged all and sundry to carry the campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the state for peaceful co- existence.

The event climaxed with a sensitization walk to some parts of Uru Community in Nnewi South Council Area.
