Governor Willie Obiano says his administration is committed to ensuring openness, accountability, transparency and citizen’s involvement in decision making in government affairs.


He stated this at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka, during the presentation of Open Government Partnership and Anambra State Anti- Corruption Strategy Documents.



Governor Obiano said Anambra State has increased openness of its budget process for active involvement of all stakeholders, as Communities have also been encouraged to identify projects and lead in their execution while the government provides the fund.


Represented by the Anambra State Head of Service, Mr Harry Uduh, Governor Obiano disclosed that what the government has done is to consolidate the existing reforms with new initiatives under the Open Government Partnership process with the aim of improving service delivery to the people of Anambra State.


The Commissioner For Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr Mark Okoye said the quest to restore trust in public institutions by conducting business in an open and transparent manner and ensuring that people and the communities have an input in governments projects led to many public sector reforms in Anambra State which culminated in the State signing on to the Open Government Partnership initiative.


In a goodwill message, the Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner For Justice, Dr Uju nwogu represented by Mrs Chinelo Onyeka said that the key strategic things of preventing corruption include public engagement and ethical re-orientation , enforcement and sanctions as well as ease of doing business.


In an address, the National Co-ordinator Open Government Partnership Nigeria, Mr Benjamin Okolo represented by Mrs Chidinma Ilechukwu commended Anambra State for its commitment to good governance and anti-corruption.
