All is now set for the twelfth Biennal Nigerian Police Games, tagged “Anambra 2020”.   Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba who disclosed this in Awka, assured athletes and spectators visiting Anambra State for the event beginning on Saturday, of watertight security arrangement put in place by the Obiano administration for seamless sports events.


Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo is among dignitaries excepted at the event.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that while  addressing journalists at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, Mr. Mba said the event, will, aside improving physical and mental well-being of Police personnel, enable the Police harness talents that will contribute to the nation’s sports development.


Mr. Mba explained that the Police is adopting multiple-venue approach in the thirty-one sports events that will bring together about  three thousand athletes in the State, noting that the approach was to encourage even development of sports facilities in the host State.


He listed other benefits of the events to include building new relationship that will drive community policing, deepening sports culture of Ndi Anambra, as well as enabling sports enthusiasts meet sports idols and get mentored.


The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Sports, DSP Nkiruka Nwode, who highlighted other benefits of the games to Anambra State, assured of effective collaboration with the media in making the event a huge success.


The State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Emma Ifesinachi, who noted that sports is a media event, assured of comprehensive coverage of the weeklong sports events
