The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works to repair the failed Deeper Life Junction, Odor Rubber along Atani-Osomala-Ogwuikpele road in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Ogbaru Two Constituency, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze during plenary.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that while explaining the motion, Sir Somtochukwu lamented that the road which is the only major road that connects all the communities in Ogbaru has caused loss, damages and injuries to unsuspecting motorists who ply the route and that the deplorable state of the road could worsen if not checked and attended to.
He expressed worry that the road which connects other parts of Ogbaru to the Expressway and many communities will be cut off, thereby crippling economic activities of the people if unchecked.
In his contribution, the member representing Ogbaru One Constituency, Honourable Noble Igwe revealed that if the erosion menace in the area is not controlled, the River Niger may overflow its bank and cause disaster.
The Minority Leader, Honourable Onyebuchi Ofor and the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr Pete Ibida also spoke in favour of the motion, while Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read out the resolution to the House and the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.
